The reason for such assumptions was the presentation of the company’s strategy, published after the cancellation of plans for a number of electric vehicles, The Drive reports.
In a slide presentation titled “Honda’s 2026 Automotive Business Briefing Summary,” the company confirmed plans to introduce a new V6 hybrid vehicle platform. The most interesting piece concerns the future large SUV: Honda intends to introduce a “next-generation large model” equipped with a new V6 engine, as well as new hybrid powertrains.
The model description states that it belongs to the “D-segment or higher.” This is important because the three-row Honda Pilot belongs to the D-segment (mid-size SUVs). Consequently, Honda is at least seriously considering releasing a model that would be larger than the Pilot. In terms of its dimensions and positioning, such a car will be able to compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser, the publication notes.
Although the slide illustration only shows a concept sketch, the article suggests that Honda will give future SUVs a brutal design, given the success of the current generation Passport and the TrailSport sub-brand.
