Drivers who install special signals, apply special colors to their cars, or use false license plates should not count on the court’s leniency. Automotive lawyer Lev Voropaev told Gazeta.Ru about this.
“Deprivation of rights is provided for the installation of special signals on the front part. This is relevant when making some kind of garland for the New Year holidays. This is clearly punishable by deprivation of rights from six months to a year with confiscation of this light device,” the lawyer warned.
According to him, for applying a special color scheme to a car that imitates the coloring of the police, ambulance, National Guard or other special services, the driver faces deprivation of his license for a period of one to one and a half years. The courts recognize as a violation even the similarity of colors with official ones to the point of confusion. A similar penalty is imposed for installing flashing lights and other special signals.
In addition, the use of deliberately false license plates can also deprive the driver of his license for a period of six months to a year – for example, if the new owner continues to drive the old license plates after the previous one deregistered the car, warns lawyer Voropaev.
