British TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson opened up about his cancer diagnosis in this week’s episode of the documentary series Clarkson’s Farm. The 66-year-old screen star said that the disease was detected at an early stage and promised that “everything will be fine.” However, he warned that he may not appear in future episodes.

Diagnosis and treatment details

In one of the episodes of the fifth season of “Clarkson Farm,” the TV presenter announced his diagnosis to farmer Caleb Cooper and manager Charlie Ireland. Clarkson did not specify what type of cancer was found, but said a biopsy confirmed he had an “aggressive” form of the disease, and part of his prostate was removed as part of treatment.

“I disappeared for a while and had a biopsy. It’s cancer, and it’s aggressive, but it was caught really early,” the BBC quoted Clarkson as saying. The TV presenter said he had known about the diagnosis since May and promised: “I’ll be fine,” but warned that he would be off the air “for a while.”

In the season finale, Clarkson addressed viewers from his hospital room, noting that he had experienced complications during treatment. With his usual dark humor, he added: “What I wanted to say is, if everything goes well, I’ll see you in season six, but if it doesn’t, I won’t see you.”

History of health problems

The cancer diagnosis was not the first serious threat to Clarkson’s health. In recent years, he has repeatedly encountered various diseases.

In 2024, the TV presenter underwent heart surgery. He felt a sharp deterioration in his health during the vacation – sticky sweat, tightness in his chest and numbness in his left arm appeared. The examination revealed two dangerous blockages in the arteries, and doctors urgently installed stents. Clarkson later admitted that, according to doctors, he was “one step away from death” before the operation.

In 2017, while on vacation in Spain, he suffered from severe pneumonia, which required hospitalization and long recovery. Clarkson also suffered from COVID-19 in 2020, although the illness passed without serious complications.

In 2025, after a heart attack, Clarkson began to overhaul his lifestyle: Under the supervision of doctors and nutritionists, he cut out ultra-processed foods, started taking weight-loss drugs and took up Reformer Pilates, a form of physical activity he didn’t expect to do. The TV presenter has repeatedly spoken about his desire to be close to his grandchildren and called health his “constant battle.”

Career: From Top Gear to Clarkson Farm

Jeremy Charles Robert Clarkson was born on April 11, 1960 in Yorkshire. His television career began in 1988 with Top Gear, which was then a rather boring car show. Clarkson quickly became known for his edgy and provocative style, which eventually gave the program a cult following.

Clarkson’s real fame came in 2002 when he, along with Richard Hammond and James May, launched an updated version of Top Gear on the BBC. The show became the most popular automotive television project in the world, and the trio was loved by viewers for their unique chemistry, penchant for absurd experiments and constant arguments. The program was broadcast in more than 100 countries.

His BBC career ended in scandal in 2015: the corporation did not renew Clarkson’s contract after he hit one of the show’s producers during filming. However, this did not stop the TV presenter. Together with Hammond and May, he launched a new show, The Grand Tour, on Amazon Prime, which ran from 2016 to 2024.

In parallel, since 2021, Clarkson has been filming the documentary series Clarkson Farm for Amazon, where he shows his life as the owner of a farm in Oxfordshire. The show became a surprise hit, showing viewers a different Clarkson – not the supercars, but the realities of farming. It was in this series that he spoke about his diagnosis.

Clarkson described his first steps in motoring journalism as follows: “I started small, at the Shropshire Star with small Peugeots and Fiats. And only 10 years later I was allowed to drive a Lamborghini.”

Family and personal life

Clarkson has been married twice. He lived with his first wife Alexandra James for only a year (1989−1990). In 1993, he married Frances Kane, with whom he had three children: daughters Emily (1994) and Katya (1996), and son Finlo (1997). The couple divorced in 2014. Since 2017, Clarkson has been in a relationship with actress Lisa Hogan.

Eldest daughter Emily, 31, is a writer and podcaster. Finlaw, 29, prefers to keep a low profile but is known for attending football matches with his father. The youngest daughter Katya, 25 years old, works as a photographer.

In the new season of Clarkson’s Farm, viewers saw how Clarkson’s daughter gave Clarkson a flock of guinea fowl, which created real chaos on the farm with their noise. Clarkson joked: “I bought my two-year-old granddaughter… the noisiest toy I could find in the store for Christmas because I knew it would make my daughter angry, and she repaid me with the noisiest farm animals you could find.”

At the time of publication, Jeremy Clarkson’s representatives did not disclose additional details about the type of cancer and treatment prognosis. The TV presenter himself expressed confidence in a successful outcome.
