The Federation Council supported the Federal Law “On experimental legal regimes in the field of digital and technological innovation.” The document removes key legal restrictions and allows Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg) to begin introducing unmanned ground vehicles on the apron.

Unmanned baggage tractors, robots for cleaning runways and patrolling the territory will appear in Pulkovo. It is estimated that the implementation of such solutions will increase labor productivity by at least 25% and provide annual savings of over 150 million rubles.

It is specified that the Cognitive Pilot company will supply 45 unmanned baggage tractors equipped with unique “swarm” artificial intelligence technology by the end of 2028. From the outside, the tractors resemble strange-looking yellow tractors.

It is important that such drones do not require additional infrastructure. Relying solely on computer vision, they are able to communicate with each other, give way and synchronize movement among other airfield equipment.

Developed by Cognitive Pilot, which is part of the Sberbank and Cognitive Technologies companies, today has the status of one of the world’s leading developers of artificial intelligence systems for unmanned vehicles.

Pulkovo International Airport is an international airport with federal status and the only airport in the city serving regular flights. The air harbor is one of the busiest.
