By the end of this year, AvtoVAZ will make a series of prototypes equipped with a 150-horsepower turbo engine and a classic hydromechanical automatic transmission. This will be followed by a large stage of testing, fine-tuning and assessing customer demand based on market realities. The head of the company, Maxim Sokolov, told the Za Rulem magazine about this.
“If everything goes well, we will be able to start producing the Azimuth with a turbo engine in 2027,” Maxim Sokolov, President and General Director of AVTOVAZ JSC, told the publication.
In addition, work is underway on a hybrid modification in Tolyatti. Some results of this work may be announced by the automaker before the end of 2026.
Before this, photographs of the interior of the serial Lada Azimut crossover appeared. Judging by the pictures, the new product is equipped with a leather interior, a multifunction steering wheel and a CVT.
