Advertisements for certain “hydrogen systems for transport and fleets” have appeared on social networks, Motor magazine noted. According to the manufacturer, the hydrogen generator produces a hydrogen-oxygen mixture from water, which is supplied to the engine intake manifold. The mixture should activate the fuel combustion process, reducing gasoline consumption.

In reviews, consumers note reduced fuel consumption, cleaner exhaust and smoother engine operation. However, independent experts criticize the technology, pointing out the lack of the declared scientific effect for standard motors.

In particular, critics point out that the electrolysis of water inside the generator occurs due to the energy of the car’s generator. At the same time, more energy is spent on the oxidation of the resulting hydrogen than is produced, which casts doubt on real fuel efficiency.

It is important to clarify that hydrogen can indeed be used as a fuel in a conventional internal combustion engine. However, changing fuel increases the likelihood of valves, pistons and other engine elements burning out during prolonged operation at high power.
