In the open database of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the People’s Republic of China, details have appeared about the potentially most economical version of the flagship. The hybrid Dongfeng Z9 will have a different grille mask with large chrome-plated cells, a mechanical connection between the axles is not expected, and the bet will be on a traction electric motor (212 horsepower). However, the 1.5 petrol turbo engine will remain as a generator.
The regular Dongfeng Z9 was declassified at the beginning of the month: traditional pickups are equipped with a 2.0 gasoline engine (258 horsepower), an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with a BorgWarner clutch in the front axle drive. But the hybrid is designed differently: it has a more compact 1.5 turbo engine (147 horsepower), and the rear axle is driven by an electric motor.

Due to a different body kit, the electrified Dongfeng Z9 is 2.6 centimeters shorter than the original (5494 mm versus 5520 mm). Otherwise there are no significant differences. There are also plans for an all-wheel drive hybrid with two electric motors (total output of 435 hp and 800 Nm), which, with a full charge and a filled tank, can travel up to 1,100 kilometers. Dongfeng-Nissan is likely to rely on a sequential power plant.
The Dongfeng Z9 gasoline-electric pickup truck’s main rival may be the Changan Hunter Plus (Lantop). But first, traditional fuel versions will hit the market: they are expected at dealers in March. Price lists for the new Chinese-Japanese pickup truck will be published before the end of winter.
