A bill providing for increased sanctions for the absence of a compulsory insurance policy was adopted by the State Duma. Today, driving without insurance is fined 800 rubles. At the same time, if you pay the fine within 20 days, the amount is reduced to 400 rubles. Therefore, many unscrupulous drivers deliberately do not take out a policy. At the same time, punishment for repeated driving without compulsory motor liability insurance has not yet been included in the legislation.

Fines for lack of compulsory motor liability insurance have not changed since the introduction of the policy ten years ago. The Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RUA) has repeatedly called for increased sanctions. Experts refer to the fact that the average insurance premium during this time has increased tenfold, amounting to 7,638 rubles as of October of this year. In this regard, the amount of fines for driving a car without a motor vehicle insurance policy should be close to the average premium for compulsory motor liability insurance.

Traffic cameras began to identify drivers without compulsory motor liability insurance. In Russia, they decided to exempt ambulances, fire engines and police cars from fines. In Russia, they may allow the repair of cars with used spare parts under compulsory motor liability insurance.

Insurers emphasize that today only inspectors can identify a motorist without a compulsory insurance policy by stopping the car to check documents. Experts call for as quickly as possible to equip road cameras with a compulsory motor liability insurance system, which will automatically identify violators.

The day before, traffic cameras began to detect cars in traffic without compulsory motor insurance. However, at the first stage, violators will only be warned about the need to issue a policy with the help of State Services.
