One of the most popular compact crossovers of Russia – Cher Tiggo 4 – recently survived the next restyling. The complete change of generations is still far from, but this update should support the interest in the model that has not changed seriously for seven years. We took the most affordable car of the brand for the test and found out what was new in it and whether it became better from it.
First of all, the update excluded the prefix “Pro” from the name of the crossover, which appeared a couple of years ago to prevent confusion with the previous version of the car, still sold and presented on the official website. But confusing these two cars in any case will be difficult, because they look completely different.

As expected to planned restyling, there are not so many changes, but they completely changed the perception of the car. The Chery Tiggo 4 seemed to have matured: the new headlights, the radiator grille and the bumper made its appearance stricter – in the style of senior models. Seriousness adds a decrease in the number of chrome elements on the body, the rejection of the useless imitation of exhaust pipes and the appearance of LED rear lights, which will even have cars in the basic configuration, but look quite modern and expensive.

The interior also began to look older and more modern. Most of the materials used are inexpensive, but pleasant to the touch. There is an adjustment of the steering wheel on the angle of inclination and flight, setting up a lumbar support, a complete set of necessary heating, wireless charging, automatic high light, adaptive cruise control, a circular review system and a multimedia system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, which works quickly, without interruption and is logical. In general, the set of equipment here is quite “adult”.
The new seats are generally convenient, but the lengths of the pillow are missing with tall drivers. In short trips around the city, this does not strain, but in prolonged ones it begins to tire, as the knees are on weight. The adjustment of the front of the pillow in height would help a little, but this is impossible to do.

It does not allow to relax and set up the chassis. The top version with 18-inch wheels collects too much small things and seems excessively dense. At the same time, there is no strong exhausting shaking, but the constant vibrophone on the rough coating (especially on the long road) begins to irritate very quickly.

At the same time, the energy intensity of the suspension is excellent: it is well digesting almost any average city bumps, such as small pits or hatches slightly pressed into the road surface, trying to smooth them as much as possible. At metal junctions, rails or bedsid policemen, the car is felt harsh, but the line is not crossing, beyond which outright discomfort begins.
If you transfer to a car with 17-inch wheels, which are offered for two trimations of three, then the crossover will notice less little things and will become slightly comfortable, while remaining moderately dense. Chery Tiggo 4 is the case when even a small difference in the dimension of the wheels is quite significantly affecting the impressions of the ride. And in the case of a family car, most likely the only one, I want to have something more balanced and comfortable. Therefore, it is not worth overpaying for beautiful large wheels in this case.

The crossover is controlled understandable and predictable, but the feedback is minimum. In standard mode, the steering wheel is light and empty, and in the sports is filled with artificial weight and viscosity, without giving an more understanding of what is happening with the front wheels.
After restyling, Tiggo 4 remained only with one power installation: there is no atmospheric motor for 113 horsepower and there is no large variator. Only a 147-horsepower turbocharged unit remained in the range of a six-speed robotic gearbox with two “wet” clutches.

The transmission works adequately: the delays in the kikdown are minimal, and the programs are switched in a timely manner. Light vibrations and twitching sometimes, however, still break through. Most often, this happens if you crawl in sluggish traffic jams for a long time, but it is impossible to say that this behavior is scared or somehow very much, it is impossible. In the vast majority of road situations, the Robot does not recall its existence in any way.
The officially declared time overclocking to the “hundreds” – 10 seconds. In the city, the engine power is more than enough, and on the highway there is already enough, but you can go without straining. The crossover instantly reacts to the pressing of the gas pedal, and in the sports mode it even becomes harsh.

In general, the sled habits of the crossover are pleasant. As a city car for every day – a very good option. True, such a choice is still unlikely to be called budgetary.
The basic version costs 2,380,000 rubles. Although the equipment is rich: LED headlights, a rear view camera with parking sensors, light and rain sensors, air conditioning, heating front seats, steering and windshield, as well as a multimedia system with Apple Carplay.

A version with wireless charging, heated seats of the second row and climate control will cost 2.5 million, and a top modification is estimated at 2,680,000 rubles. Atmospheric backlight, 18-inch wheels, hatch and a set of various driver’s assistants are added to it.

It looks a little expensive, but taking into account various discounts and marketing offers, the price of the average equipment option, the most optimal, in our opinion, can be omitted to about 2.1 million rubles. And it looks more interesting. Because the crossover really turned out to be very good. Restyling went to the models clearly for the benefit. /m
