Previously unseen versions of single-volume cars debuted in Japan. Buyers were offered a Toyota Alphard/Vellfire with a rechargeable PHEV hybrid system. Compared to a “plug-free” hybrid, the capacity of the traction battery has increased tenfold (to 51 Ampere-hours), and the peak power of the system has increased by 22 percent (now 306 horsepower). A two-row version has also been added to the range.

Lexus LM: an outrageously expensive minivan

The externally charged hybrid Toyota Alphard/Vellfire differs from its analogues only in the hatch for the socket. Under the hood is the same 2.5-liter gasoline engine, but the electric motor is more powerful, and the electric range without activating the internal combustion engine is 73 kilometers. Unfortunately, detailed technical specifications and fuel consumption have not been disclosed. But the new product promises lower noise levels and more uniform acceleration.

From 2025, customers will not have to overpay for the Lexus LM: a luxurious four-seater modification has been added to the Toyota range. There is no third row of seats; in the back there are luxurious chairs with ottomans, a whole range of electrical adjustments, ventilation and massage. There is a refrigerator, USB connectors, headrest speakers and separate climate zones, but the 48-inch screen and fixed partition remain the prerogative of Lexus.

The updated Toyota Alphard/Vellfire in a four-seater version will go on sale on January 7, the rechargeable hybrid will have to wait until January 31. Prices for the new product range from 5.1 to 10.85 million yen (32.5-69 thousand dollars). In the future, a similar update is expected for left-hand drive minivans, including for the Chinese market.
