The famous Chinese blogger conducted independent tests of the Avatr 12 electric sedan in an aerodynamic pipe. It turned out that the wind resistance coefficient is almost 30 percent higher than the manufacturer certifies. The real indicator was at the level of “gasoline car of 20 years ago”-such as Volkswagen Passat B5.

The test in the aerodynamic pipe of the Tianjin Center for automotive technologies and research (Catarc) showed a resistance coefficient of 0.28 CD at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. Avatr states that the indicator is 0.21. According to the blogger, the test corresponded to the CSAE 146-2020 standard and was completed by professionals.

Avatr reacted immediately, calling the blogger’s statements “a complete lie” and accusing him of using unethical techniques, the purpose of which is to denigrate the brand. Avatr promised to conduct his own – already public – tests of serial sedan 12.

The blogger suspected Avatr of intervention: the testing center allegedly did not provide him with an official report immediately after the tests – perhaps at the request of the brand. He also demanded that he access future public tests.

Avatr, against the background of the scandal, deleted the statements about the relatively resistance coefficient from his advertising.

Aerodynamic resistance coefficient is a critical indicator for electric cars. The amount of energy consumed and a margin consumed depends on it, especially at high speeds.

Avatr recently officially entered the Russian market. The premium brand created by Changan, Catl and Huawei brought the crossover 11, and by the end of the year the Russians will be offered an Avatr 07 crossover and the Avatr 12 sedan. In 2026, the Avatr 06 sedan will join them.
