The US President and the Prime Minister of Great Britain announced a new agreement between countries. The fee for imported British cars will decrease from 27.5% to 10%, because Land Rover, Mini, Bentley, Lotus, Rolls-Royce and McLaren have something to celebrate. However, Ford, General Motors and Stellantis are outraged by the agreement: in their opinion, the transaction brings more benefits to the British, not Americans.
The agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom has a reservation: a ten percent duty operates on the first 100 thousand imported cars during the year, and then increases to 25%. Last year, British automakers sold about 133 thousand cars in the United States, but not all of them are produced in the UK. According to BBC, there is just about 100 thousand units from England in the United States.

The President of the American Council for Automobile Policy (represents the interests of Ford, General Motors and Stellatis) Matt Blunt said that the US automobile industry is closely integrated with Canada and Mexican, and not with Great Britain. Therefore, the priority of the agreement with the United Kingdom causes disappointment. Blunt also noted that Trump’s deal with a headman leads to a paradoxical situation: the import of a British car with a small number of American parts is more profitable than the import of half an American car from Canada or Mexico.
The “Big Three” of American auto giants believe that the situation is damaged by American auto manufacturers, suppliers and employees of the car industry, and the deal with Great Britain is a bad precedent for future negotiations with Asian and European competitors. In England, the agreement is already called “historical”.
