At the beginning of the millennium, Cadillac made the Cadillac XLR Roadster on the Corvette platform, but the automaker does not intend to revive this model. In a conversation with CNBC, General Motors President Mark Roiss said that “the new XLR does not correspond to the Cadillac brand strategy,” since he would not be quite unique – he would have repeatedly repeated the Corvette subop -forming, which created unnecessary competition.

At one time, XLR was created as an answer to the models of European premium brands. It was equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 Northstar engine, developing 324 horsepower, and the “charged” XLR-V was relied by a compressor 4.4-liter engine for 449 forces. The new XLR, according to General Motors, would have turned out to be a secondary product without individuality, which does not fit into the product concept of brand development. The example is Cadillac Escalade, which, although it shares the architecture with Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, remains unique in its own way.

Cadillac is focused on returning to the ultra-Lux segment with Celestiq, the deliveries of which were supposed to begin back in 2023, but this has not yet happened. The other day it became known that in 2025 it is planned to release 25 copies of Celestiq, but so far this quota has not been sold out.

To the question of Motor1.com about the number of orders for the new product in the company replied that “almost all” slots were booked, but for the new low -trip model, the demand is almost zero. The starting price of Celestiq, we recall, is 340 thousand dollars (more than 28 million rubles at the rate of today).
