The decision was made based on the results of a technology competition and will be immediately implemented, Izvestia writes with reference to the National Technology Initiative (NTI) Project Support Fund. Autonomous GAZelles have already passed all tests, including “in real conditions of high conflict,” and are able to recognize weather conditions.
GAZelles equipped with MIPT and MADI technologies were tested in the Alabuga special economic zone (SEZ) in Tatarstan. Such a vehicle is capable of unmanned transport of goods over a distance of up to 120 kilometers.
The drone is based on the electric GAZelle. According to NTI, the car was tested in conditions of high conflict and risk of accidents.

The system “generates control actions” using environmental data. Weather conditions are also taken into account: the car “knows” when it is raining or snowing, whether there is ice and how strong the wind is.
The day before, Russian developers talked about another self-driving car. Navio (formerly SberAutoTech) announced the L5 tractor without a driver’s seat: instead of a windshield, it has a huge screen on which various information is displayed for other drivers. They promised to show L5 live on December 11-13.
