A museum-looking Audi 100 nicknamed “herring” went on sale

The Audi 100 C2 is a 1976 model that stood out for its rare 5-cylinder engine. As marketers noted, this engine offered “6-cylinder power and 4-cylinder economy.” In Russia, cars of this series were nicknamed “herrings” for their characteristic elongated body shape.

A 1981 car is up for sale in Kazakhstan. The seller plans to get 5 million tenge for a well-preserved sedan – that’s about 800 thousand rubles.

The second generation Sotka was produced from 1976 to 1982. During this time, 988,581 copies of the model came out of the Audi plant in Neckarsulm, Germany.

The body has noticeably increased in comparison with the first generation – 4,695 mm in length (an increase of 105 mm). The width reached 1,768 mm (+39 mm), while the car became lower by 39 mm – 1,390 mm.
