Speaking in the State Duma, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation explained that the decision was forced and dictated by current budget restrictions.
“Due to budget constraints, we were forced to abandon the capital-intensive project of developing a single modular platform for now. Without state support, our producers now, unfortunately, will not be able to meet such costs,” said Anton Alikhanov.
In the current conditions, the Ministry of Industry and Trade intends to redistribute efforts and concentrate on another priority area – localizing the production of critical components.
Particular emphasis will be placed on components for electric and hybrid cars. This segment, according to the minister, demonstrates impressive dynamics: at the end of last year, 15 thousand of these machines were produced in Russia, which is three times higher than the previous year.
It was previously reported that UAZ is testing new diesel models in extreme conditions.
