Ministry of Industry and Trade: the money allocated for the modular auto platform was sent to other industries

The funds were used to finance other priority areas in the manufacturing industry. The Motor correspondent was told about this by the press service of the department.

“Taking into account the tasks of optimizing federal budget expenditures, no funds were allocated for this project (EMP – “Motor”). The initially planned amounts of funding were redistributed to implement other tasks for the development of the manufacturing industry,” the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

The day before it became known that Russia was curtailing a capital-intensive project to create a single modular platform – the corresponding statement was made by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov Anton Alikhanov.

“Due to budget constraints, we were forced to abandon the capital-intensive project of developing a single modular platform for now. Without state support, our producers now, unfortunately, will not be able to meet such costs,” the TASS agency quoted the minister as saying.

The press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade explained that the report discussed the abandonment of the universal modular platform project – it was to be financed within the framework of the federal project “Production of Innovative Transport”.

“Based on the current budgetary possibilities, the focus of state support is focused on the further localization of components critical for the industry,” the ministry’s press service concluded.

As Interfax reported with reference to the head of the department of automotive industry and railway engineering of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Tigran Parsadanyan, it was planned to allocate 160 billion rubles for the development of the Unified Modular Platform in 2025–2030. The official announced these figures at a round table in the Federation Council in November 2024. The federal budget for 2025–2027 allocated 87.8 billion rubles for this project.

A unified modular platform (UMP) in the automotive industry is a system of design elements that can be combined in different variations. It determines the basic proportions of cars: wheelbase, ride height, location of the interior relative to the wheels, hood length, windshield angle and other parameters.

It was previously reported that UAZ is testing new diesel models in extreme conditions.
