Almaty authorities got rid of the LiAZ and Yutong bus cemetery

At the auction in Kazakhstan, 573 units of rolling stock belonging to Almatyelectrotrans were sold. For written off buses, it was possible to help out 160.3 million tenge (24.8 million rubles). The winner of the tender undertakes to free the site within 60 calendar days. Thus ends the sensational story with the cemetery of buses and trolleybuses in the suburbs of the former capital of Kazakhstan.

Typically, municipal enterprises are trying to resell or dispose of the written-off transport in batches, but for some reason Almatyelectrotrans was in no hurry to part with the retired cars. In the village of Zhetygen, the Almaty region, a real cemetery of public transport was formed: basically the parking consisted of Chinese (Yutong) and Russian (Liaz, Paz and Gazelle) cars.

In the press the situation was covered in 2021, but the auction ended only on June 3, 2025. The buyer will have to punish the written off buses to the state of scrap metal. It is interesting that six months ago, the representative of Almatyelektrotrans said that some cars can be restored, and the parking really became smaller: at some point, 873 buses accumulated on the site, and 573 cars appear in the lot with scrap metal.
