Ten years ago, the idea of a Ford F-150 with factory support and Shelby nameplates seemed unrealistic. Today, however, such high-performance pickup trucks have actually created a niche that is close to the luxury sports car segment. Shelby American recalls that it was this company that was at the origins of their popularity. Carscoops reports this.
The basis is the Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4×4 with a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8. Shelby upgrades the engine with a Stage 2 supercharging system, upgraded injectors, a carbon fiber intake, a high-efficiency heat exchanger and a custom-tuned Borla exhaust system. The total power is over 810 hp, the company has not yet disclosed torque data.
It’s worth emphasizing that this truck is not a highly specialized version for the drag strip. Although with proper skill he will probably cope with this task, otherwise he should show decent results. How good can a car be that was not originally designed for high-speed racing and, due to its heavy weight, is objectively inferior to its competitors? The question remains open.
