Another Exeed crossover will be registered at the former Mercedes-Benz plant

Mercedes-Benz left Russia and sold assets, including a local car plant, back in 2023. At the same time, rumors first appeared that the production of premium cars from one of the Chinese brands could be organized there. Later it became known that two Exeed models – VX and TLX – received vehicle type approval. Now the Chinese Cars portal has found out that the brand’s third crossover, the RX, has received a similar certificate.

RX is the most expensive model in the local Exeed line; as of the end of December 2024, it costs from 4,750,000 to 5,490,000 rubles. Today, the crossover is presented in Russia with a two-liter engine with a capacity of 197 or 249 horsepower: in the first case, the engine is paired with a seven-speed “robot”, in the second – an eight-speed automatic. The drive is exclusively all-wheel drive.

Until now, the RX was supplied to Russia from China, but now the model has received Vehicle Type Approval, with the assembly location listed as the former Mercedes-Benz plant in Yesipovo near Moscow.

The car plant operated for less than three years: Mercedes-Benz put it into operation in 2019, and in the spring of 2022 production was stopped. Later, the German company completely got rid of Russian assets, including the enterprise in Esipovo, and the Avtodom dealer holding became its new owner.

Avtodom has not officially announced a partnership with Chery, which owns the premium Exeed brand, and is unlikely to announce it. There is no information yet about the specifications of Russian-assembled Exeed cars.
