The countries of the South Asian region of the Earth are of great interest to the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, including in terms of organizing local production. The Motor correspondent was told about this by the UAZ press service.
“Pakistan continues to be of interest, which, it is possible, in the future could result in real steps to organize mutually beneficial cooperation with the South Asian republic,” the press service of the automobile plant reported.
As for the export direction, UAZ is currently consolidating efforts in other foreign markets, in particular the countries of Latin America, North Africa and the CIS, the press service of the enterprise added.
In 2017, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that Russia is ready to discuss options for organizing joint assembly plants of Russian UAZ vehicles in Pakistan.
In 2021, the Russian side informed foreign partners about UAZ’s interest in supplying assembled vehicles to public and private Pakistani customers, as well as the company’s interest in implementing a large-knot (SKD) vehicle assembly project in Pakistan. The exact timing of the start of car assembly is unknown.
