Aston Martin will recall 1.5 thousand new supercars and crossovers

The British brand has discovered a glitch in the rear view camera: when reverse is turned on, the display may not display an image. The problem is resolved by restarting the engine, but in this case the media system takes half a minute to load. To fix the defect, Aston Martin will have to change the firmware, and not all cars can do this remotely: some will have to be taken to a service center.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has agreed to recall 1,452 vehicles of the Vantage, DB12 and DBX 707 lines, and about a hundred more vehicles will have to be repaired in other markets. According to the standards of these countries, the main screen of the infotainment complex must display a picture from the rear view camera when driving in reverse.

On Aston Martins produced from September 2024, the software glitch can be fixed over the air; on older cars, owners will have to visit a service center. The problem occurs due to incorrect application priority. According to NHTSA estimates, 342 DBX 707, 200 Vantage, 138 DB12 units are at risk: in all cases, these are 2024 models.

The last time Aston Martin recalled its cars was in October 2024. Then the malfunction was more dangerous and widespread: a ruptured oil radiator hose could cause a fire in four thousand supercars of the 2024 and 2025 model years.
