On June 27 and 28, the second stage of the St. Petersburg Drift Cup took place at the Igora Drive circuit. The competition was attended by the strongest drifters of the Northern capital and the Leningrad region, as well as guests from the Arkhangelsk, Murmansk regions and the Republic of Karelia. This was reported by the press service of the circuit.
“On Saturday there were qualifying races, during which the drifters made two solo attempts, trying to fulfill the judge’s task as accurately as possible. On Sunday, the drivers were treated to a double top-16 bracket, which allows the losing driver to continue fighting in the lower bracket and reach the final,” the statement said.
The leader of the stage was Anatoly Kizin in a BMW E92. Following him were Artem Kanevsky (BMW E30) and Elisey Nikitin (Toyota Altezza). In the team standings, first place is taken by ISKRA Racing, which is only three points ahead of the “There are questions” team.
If the first stage took place with the complete dominance of BMW, then in the second the Japanese cars took revenge. In qualifying, only two drivers with Bavarian cars made it into the top five.
The best result of the stage was shown by Elisey Nikitin, earning 100 points. Matvey Vakhrushev (Nissan Silvia S13) finished second with 99 points, Nikita Gorbraikh (BMW E92) finished third with 98 points. The fourth and fifth places were shared by Artem Leitis (Nissan Fairlady Z) and Artem Kanevsky (BMW E30) – both scored 97.5 points.
