Audi confirmed the recall of 113 thousand cars: 12 models are at risk

In China, the German brand will repair a whole galaxy of locally and German-assembled models for free. From December 27, 2024, dealers will begin repairing 113,749 Audi vehicles manufactured between January 2, 2018 and January 23, 2023. Owners of the Audi A6L, A7, A8L, Q7, Q8, RS 6, RS 7, RS Q8, S6, S7, S8 and A6 Allroad will have to worry; the problem is the same.

The automaker has determined that due to a manufacturing defect, the 48-volt starter generator may lose power over time. It’s all about a defect in connecting the inverter to the printed circuit board: under certain conditions, the electric motor may not provide the declared characteristics. Audi will have to test all cars and, if necessary, replace the starter generators.

Since we are talking about moderate hybrids, there will be no noticeable drop in power: the 48-volt “add-on” only helps the gasoline engine during acceleration and when releasing the gas. Interestingly, the problem mainly concerns German-assembled cars: out of 113,749 cars, only 23,011 were made in China at FAW-Volkswagen facilities.

Two years ago, Audi conducted a more interesting recall campaign in China. Then it turned out that 2.2 thousand A8 sedans were assigned an erroneous identification number from the factory. Due to a manufacturing defect, the production date information on the nameplate and the accompanying documents do not match.
