These are mainly mass-produced cars of Japanese and German brands aged 3-5 years with engines up to 160 hp, for which a preferential tariff applies when calculating the disposal fee.
“One of the most popular models imported to Russia from China is the Toyota Corolla sedan with a 1.2 liter engine. Its price is about 2 million rubles. They also order a BMW X3 from China in a new body with a 1.5-liter turbo engine and front-wheel drive. It will cost 3.2 million rubles,” Dmitry Rogov, founder of the RogovMobil company, told Motor magazine.
In addition, Russians are interested in the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf hatchbacks, as well as the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover, all three with 1.4-liter turbo engines. These cars cost in the range from 2.2 million to 2.5 million rubles.
The expert explained that since all passing cars from China are equipped with basic engines, you should not count on rich equipment.
The basic equipment includes a simple steering wheel without buttons, fabric seats, air conditioning, and mechanical seat adjustment. Leather interior, climate control and sunroof are found only in more expensive cars.
The main disadvantage of cars from China, as the expert notes, is the lack of a “winter package” of options, especially for Volkswagen and BMW models. The most you can hope for is heated front seats, Rogov warned.
