The 1.8 TSI petrol turbo engine with a power of 180 hp often has antifreeze leaks – the thermostat housing is especially vulnerable. The timing chain on this engine rarely lasts more than 200 thousand kilometers; at about the same mileage, the phase regulators may require replacement, noted Za Rulem expert Alexander Vinogradov.
According to him, it is also worth diagnosing the adjustable oil pump: a typical problem is a clogged oil receiver mesh or a stuck pressure relief valve.
The six-speed DSG DQ250 robot is generally reliable, but after 200 thousand kilometers the dual-mass flywheel can make itself felt. In addition, the expert advises changing the working fluid in the box every 50-60 thousand kilometers, although the official regulations do not require this.
A separate headache is the Haldex center coupling: the manufacturer calls the oil in it “eternal”, but in reality it needs to be updated every 60 thousand kilometers along with washing the filter mesh. Ignoring this procedure will lead to costly repairs.
