Auto expert Zinoviev named 6 minivans that will not ruin their owner

The key criteria for the search were the availability of 7 seats, age not older than 10 years, inexpensive repairs, mileage up to 150-200 thousand kilometers and price up to 1.5 million rubles.

In first place is the Citroen C4 Grand Spacetourer. This model (until 2017 known as the C4 Grand Picasso) was officially sold in Russia. It is possible to find even specimens 5-6 years old for the indicated amount.

The main advice of “Behind the Wheel” expert Sergei Zinoviev: choose diesel versions. Atmospheric gasoline engines are considered unsuccessful here, but 1.6 and 2.0 liter diesel engines. if there are problems with their typical fuel equipment and filters, they can travel up to 300-500 thousand kilometers. The gearboxes are either reliable “mechanics” or very durable Aisin hydraulic automatics.

Next up is the Ford Grand C-Max. The expert recommends paying attention to diesel modifications with a displacement of 1.5 liters – they run about 300 thousand kilometers. Gearboxes are “mechanics” or a Getrag robot with two clutches, which after modernization has become resourceful, although expensive to repair. The main disadvantage of the model is the smallest trunk in the class.

Opel Zafira C (Zafira Tourer) is a third generation minivan. The expert calls for caution when choosing a power unit. A rather rare naturally aspirated 1.8 engine (125 hp) is a good choice, but difficult to find.

The majority of cars are equipped with either turbodiesels or gasoline 1.4 (140 hp), which have a whole bunch of problems. Their resource is estimated at approximately 250 thousand kilometers. Not everything is smooth with gearboxes either: most hydraulic automatics last the same amount of time, and only the AF40 unit paired with a 2-liter diesel engine is capable of traveling 300,000 km.

Renault Grand Scenic. Unlike Opel, this French minivan was not officially sold in Russia. For 1.5 million rubles it is quite possible to find a 7-8 year old car.

With engines, the situation is similar to competitors. Petrol turbos 1.2 and 1.3 are considered “disposable” – they are reliable, but their resource is limited. The proven cast iron diesel engines 1.5 (110 hp) from Duster and 1.6 (130 hp) from X-Trail inspire more confidence.

The main feature is the absence of a classic “automatic”. The choice is between a reliable 6-speed manual transmission and Getrag robots (with two wet clutches), whose service life is about 250 thousand kilometers.

The next minivan is the Toyota Verso. The most common choice is the version with a 1.8 petrol engine (147 hp) and a CVT. The expert notes that the CVT is capable of traveling more than 200 thousand kilometers, but it is more rational to look for a car with a “mechanics” and a smaller 1.6 naturally aspirated engine (132 hp).

The second generation Volkswagen Touran closes the list. The main engine is a gasoline 1.4 (150 hp) EA111 series, which, after modernization, received a timing belt drive and is considered quite reliable for up to 250 thousand kilometers with good fuel. The “robot” DQ200 works in tandem with it. The diesel version 1.6 (115 hp) with a cast iron block is capable of traveling more than 300 thousand kilometers, but will require attention to the EGR systems and particulate filter.
