“Auto News of the Day” listed the 5 cheapest frame SUVs in Russia

Despite the growing popularity of SUVs, those who value endurance and high cross-country ability still prefer cars with a frame structure, the portal reports.

Experts studied the websites and price lists of car manufacturers and distributors, after which they prepared a list of five models that cost less than 4 million rubles.

The undisputed leader in accessibility was the UAZ Hunter. This legendary Ulyanovsk SUV, which the company does not plan to remove from the assembly line, is estimated at 1.7 million rubles. Under the hood of the Hunter there is a 112-horsepower gasoline engine. It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case. Ground clearance – 210 millimeters.

The second place is occupied by another representative of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant – UAZ Patriot. Its price starts at 1.9 million rubles. The model is expecting a major update by the fall. The Patriot is equipped with a 150-horsepower 2.7-liter engine, which is coupled with a manual transmission and all-wheel drive. A rear differential lock is available as an option. Ground clearance – 210 mm.

The first foreign car in the ranking and the cheapest foreign frame SUV was the Chinese Oting “Paladin”. The model, built on the basis of the Japanese Nissan Terra, went on sale in February 2024. Taking into account the direct benefits, the price tag starts at 3.2 million rubles. Under the hood is a two-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 218 horsepower paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The drive is a rigidly connected all-wheel drive, with three differential locking modes and a reduction gear. Ground clearance – 215 mm.

Haval H5 took fourth place. Prices for this frame SUV start at 3.6 million rubles. The buyer can choose one of two two-liter turbo engines – a gasoline engine with 200 horsepower or a diesel engine with 150 horsepower. The drive is plug-in full, ground clearance is 200 mm.

The top five is BAW 212, which debuted on the Russian market last summer. The model was popularly nicknamed the “Chinese UAZ”. Prices start at 3.8 million rubles. The car is equipped with a two-liter gasoline turbo engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive and a suspension with a continuous axle. Ground clearance reaches 235 mm – this is the best figure in the rating.
