Autostat: Chinese cars will catch up with foreign cars in terms of service life by 15–20%

The breakdown rate of Chinese cars still exceeds that of European, Japanese and Korean brands. At the same time, despite the shorter service life compared to traditional foreign cars, the quality and durability of Chinese cars are gradually improving. The operating director of the Fresh automotive marketplace, Evgeniy Zhitnukhin, told the Autostat agency about this.

“Chinese automakers are constantly improving their products, so in the near future the resource gap between Chinese and European/world brands is expected to reduce to 15-20% due to innovative technologies. For example, new platforms (CMA for Geely, LEPA for Changan) significantly increase durability, and BYD hybrid power plants increase the service life to 200 thousand km,” comments Evgeniy Zhitnukhin.

Fit Service technical director Nikita Rodionov believes that it is premature to talk about the obviously low service life of Chinese cars. He gave examples of models that have been successfully adapted to Russian conditions. According to the expert, the mode of operation and quality of service are more important to the owner, and not the origin of the car. Timely diagnostics, adaptation of regulations to the local climate and the use of high-quality spare parts make it possible to level out design features.
