The crossover’s rivals also include the more expensive Li Auto L6. This opinion was expressed to the Autostat agency by the founder of the external press service for the auto business “Mechanika” Alexander Kovalev.
“It is already known that GAC S7, taking into account discounts, will start at approximately 5.25 million rubles. Apparently, the recommended prices without taking into account special benefits will be in the range of 5.5 – 6.5 million rubles. That is, it will be noticeably more expensive than the GS8 already on sale,” said Alexander Kovalev.
In his opinion, the highest demand will be for the maximum configuration of the GAC S7 – it falls into the price segment where buyers are already willing to pay extra for rich equipment. Kovalev notes that so far GAC S7 does not have any clear advantages over its competitors. The model does not have the expressive design characteristic of other cars of the brand, and its power plant has characteristics typical for the class. The success of the new product will depend on a competent marketing campaign, attractive offers, including leasing, and word of mouth.
The GAC S7 is built according to a series hybrid scheme: the gasoline engine works exclusively as a generator, charging the battery, which powers two electric motors on the front and rear axles. The power of the internal combustion engine generator is 156 hp, the total output of the electric motors reaches 340 hp. In this case, the transport tax is calculated based on the 30-minute engine power, which is 122 hp.
