AvtoVAZ is preparing another version of the Lada Niva: details

They were shared by Rossiyskaya Gazeta: already in 2025, both Nivas will receive a modification with a 1.8-liter eight-valve engine producing 90 horsepower, this was confirmed by AvtoVAZ itself. We are talking about a unit built on the basis of the VAZ-21 179, which is already installed on the Lada Vesta. First, the Niva Travel will get a version with an eight-valve engine, and then the classic Niva Legend.

Previously, it was already reported about a new modification for the Niva family with a 1.8-liter engine: it will be derated from 122 to 90 horsepower, and the torque will increase and become more even in the range above 1500 rpm. As a result, the unit will be close to a diesel engine in terms of traction capabilities.

AvtoVAZ stopped the assembly of all Niva Legend and half of the Niva Travel AvtoVAZ promised “something new” for the classic Lada Niva AvtoVAZ began producing serial Niva Sport: the power surprised

Other changes are planned for the Lada Niva next year. AvtoVAZ intends to unify the Niva Travel and Legend in terms of chassis, taking the best technical solutions from both models and introducing them into one design. For example, Niva Travel can get an upgraded front suspension with double-row bearings, which the classic Niva already has.

And already in 2026, Niva Travel will receive an update: its interior will be modernized, optics and electronics will be modernized.

In the meantime, Niva Travel and Niva Legend are available in a single modification with a 1.7-liter engine producing 83 horsepower. As of early December 2024, Lada Niva Travel costs from 1,334,000 rubles, and Niva Legend – from 981 thousand rubles. Until the end of this year, AvtoVAZ promised not to raise prices, but next year it allowed price lists to be adjusted due to inflation.
