AvtoVAZ collected the first Niva Travel with a new engine and design

Togliatti portal Avtograd News claims that there was a prototype of a car with another power unit and an alternative front bumper from the assembly line. According to insiders, we are talking about a restyled version with a 90-horsepower “atmospheric” and a new “face” in the spirit of the E-Niva experimental electric car. During 2025, the updated Niva Travel will become serial.

The first prototype of Lada Niva Travel is based on an SUV in the Luxe configuration, but the front-line sample resembles E-Niva. However, LED headlights and foglights are not yet available: the usual “halogenes” of the old -style are installed. As for the 1.8 engine, we are talking about an eight-valve version of the VAZ-21179 unit, adapted for longitudinal installation.

At the factory, they tried to instill in the motor a diesel character with solid thrust at low speeds. According to preliminary data, the new engine will develop 90 horsepower and about 120 nm of torque. A significant increase in productivity is impossible without radical intervention in the design, but this is not in the plans of AvtoVAZ.

Updated Lada Niva Travel will be on sale until the end of the year. In addition to another engine, a transition to a front suspension with two -row bearings is planned, an interior upgrade and electronic systems, as well as the installation of optional LED headlights. However, the entire list of improvements is expected in an SUV by 2026.
