Lada Niva Legend will receive a new engine and LED headlights

Sergei Kornienko, head of product marketing for the brand, spoke about plans to modernize AvtoVAZ’s oldest SUV.

The exact prices for the updated AvtoVAZ SUV will appear closer to the start of its sales, but you can take the Niva Travel as a guide, the basic equipment of which, after restyling and the appearance of a 90-horsepower 1.8-liter engine, has risen in price by 76 thousand rubles.

“There will be a lot of technical changes. The car will become more pleasant in all respects,” said Sergei Kornienko.

The heart of the updated three-door Niva will be a new engine. By analogy with Niva Travel, the classic SUV will lose its previous 83-horsepower 1.7 liter engine in favor of a more powerful (90 hp) and modern 1.8-liter VAZ-11 184 unit, created on the basis of engines for Lada passenger cars.

The new engine isn’t the only improvement. The SUV will get a modern front end design with LED headlights (starting with Life). There will be more efficient brakes with ventilated discs from the Lada Vesta, as well as a new anti-roll bar for better handling. The package will be complemented by 17-inch alloy wheels and an updated gearbox.

Earlier it was reported that within a week several brands had rewritten the price tags for new cars.
