All three new products will hit the market during 2025 and all three will join the BJ off-road line. The BJ60 will be the first to go on sale – this will happen at the beginning of the year, Avtostat clarifies with reference to the BAIC press service. There is no official information about the other two new products yet, but we can assume that one of them will be the new generation BJ40 – this model previously appeared in the company’s plans for the Russian market under the BJ41 symbol.

The BJ line includes frame (and not only) SUVs, of which only one is presented in Russia so far – the BJ40 assembled in Kaliningrad. It is available in two versions, with a two-liter gasoline engine (this option costs from 4,350,000 rubles) and a diesel engine of the same volume (from 4,400,000 rubles).

At the beginning of next year, the BJ40 will be joined by the “senior” BJ60, and already at the start of sales they will offer a version with an electrified unit based on a two-liter diesel engine. It consists of a 163-horsepower diesel engine, which is assisted by a 14-horsepower starter-generator. The gearbox is a classic eight-speed automatic, the SUV has a full part-time drive, has a reduction gear, differential locks and independent suspension.

Meanwhile, the BJ40 changed its generation in China in 2023, and in the spring of 2024, BAIC did not rule out that the new SUV would reach us. A preliminary date was even announced—autumn. However, the year is coming to an end, and the model has not appeared in Russia. Probably its launch has been pushed back to 2025.

In the new generation, the BJ40 retained the frame structure, solid axle at the rear and reduction gear, but from now on it has an all-metal body without a removable plastic top and frameless doors. In the specification for the Chinese market, the BJ40 is equipped with a two-liter turbo-four with a capacity of 234 horsepower instead of the previous 224 horsepower.

In China, the BJ line, in addition to the BJ40 and BJ60, also includes the BJ30 – a mid-size model 4.73 meters long with a monocoque body. This spring she stepped into the second generation. In addition, BAIC has the G-Class-style BJ80 and the BJ90, which is reminiscent of the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Mercedes GL. Probably, one of the listed models will become the third new product of the brand on the Russian market.
