BMW introduced the 7 Series with a screen for the passenger and a narrow grille

The company showed the updated 7 Series 2027. External changes turned out to be modest, and the main novelty is hidden in the cabin – the Panoramic iDrive panoramic system debuts here, which will soon appear on other models of the brand. Carscoops reports this.

The new 7 Series still uses the old CLAR platform, which allows the installation of both gasoline engines and electric motors. This is not a Neue Klasse architecture intended only for pure electric vehicles (like the i3 or iX3). Moreover, the external changes are quite modest: the sedan lacks both the characteristic “visor” and the compact retro “nostrils” of the radiator.

The illuminated radiator grille has become narrower, its slats are now horizontal. Ultra-thin DRLs flank the grille, while the main headlights are smaller and almost hidden in the side air intakes. BMW has also toned down the sedan’s “industrial” look, with more body-colored plastic up front rather than black inserts.

The changes are more noticeable inside than outside. BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system, previously introduced on the iX3 and then on the i3, makes its debut here. It will soon appear on the updated 5 Series and i5, as well as on the new X5. The system includes a full-width windshield projection (Panoramic Vision) and a 17.9‑inch free-floating central display.

In addition, the BMW 7 Series offers a standard 14.6-inch screen for the passenger. It supports video streaming, games and TV. The built-in camera monitors the driver: if it detects his distraction, the screen automatically dims.
