BMW has revealed details about the new generation of its sedan – the all-electric i3 model. The car, which will become the second model in the Neue Klasse family, received a power unit with a power of 345 kW (469 hp) and a torque of 645 Nm.
The new product is equipped with two electric motors (one on each axle), which provides all-wheel drive. The sixth generation eDrive technology is responsible for the operation of the power plant. According to the manufacturer, the new chassis and electronics allow for precise handling.
The electrical architecture is based on an 800-volt system. It supports charging power up to 400 kW, which allows you to replenish the energy reserve to cover 400 km in 10 minutes. The total range on the WLTP cycle reaches 900 km. The car also supports bidirectional charging (Vehicle-to-Load, Vehicle-to-Home and Vehicle-to-Grid), allowing you to power external devices or send energy to the network.
The new high-performance Heart of Joy computer is responsible for processing driving data. According to the company, its response is ten times faster than previous generation systems. The interior features the new BMW Panoramic iDrive interface.
The design of the sedan is made in a new corporate style with a two-volume body. The car retains the proportions characteristic of the BMW 3 Series: a long wheelbase, short overhangs and a sloping roofline. The optics and radiator grille are combined into a single light element.
Production of the new product will begin in August 2026 at BMW’s main plant in Munich. The first deliveries to customers are planned for the autumn of the same year. The enterprise has undergone a large-scale modernization: a new body shop and assembly plant have been built here. From autumn 2027, the plant will produce only electric vehicles of the Neue Klasse family.
