In May, a short working month due to holidays, 91.2 thousand new cars were sold in Russia, it follows from the statistics of Avtostat. This result is 28.3 percent lower than in the same month of 2024, and 10.7 percent worse than April 2025. Leadership in the Russian market with a huge advantage is preserved by the domestic LADA, followed by four Chinese brands – Haval, Cher, Geely and Changan.

In the last month of spring, the Russians bought 91,218 new cars – one of the main factors affecting the fall in sales was traditionally seasonality in May. In January-May, 440,259 cars were sold, and the result of five months is 26 percent less than in the same period of 2024.

In the May rating, LADA retained the first place, the dealers of which implemented 25,552 cars, which corresponds to a fall by 36.2 percent in an annual comparison. In second place in the march rating is HAVAL with a result of 10 623 of the car sold (-24.2 percent), the third line went to CHEY (9780 pcs., -24.9 percent), at the fourth position of Geely (6299 pcs., -38.7 percent), and closes the first five Changan (5639 pcs. -43.5 percent).

In the second half of the rating, the places were distributed as follows: on the sixth -Belgee (3612 pcs., +0.4 percent), on the seventh -Jetour (3356 pcs., +8.3 percent), on the eighth -Omoda (2235 pcs., -53.3 percent), on the ninth (1968 pcs., +69,69,6,6,1 percent), and the top 10 Jaecoo closes (1567 pcs., -31.6 percent).

Among the models of the most popular in the country, Lada Granta remains, which in May 2025 dispersed in the amount of 12,033 copies (-35.1 percent compared to the same month of 2024). The three leaders include Lada Vesta (6559 pcs., -51.9 percent) and Haval Jolion (4586 pcs., -27.8 percent). The latter remains the most popular foreign car in the country and the best -sold model in the SUV segment (crossovers and SUVs). The TOP-5 includes another Chinese crossover-the Chere Tiggo 7 Pro Max, as well as the domestic SUV Lada Niva Legend.
