The Russian Ministry of Defense has officially confirmed that in 2026 the Victory Parade in Moscow will take place without the traditional passage of a column of military equipment along the paving stones of Red Square.
“Due to the current operational situation, students of the Suvorov military and Nakhimov schools, cadet corps, as well as a column of military equipment will not take part in the military parade this year,” notes a message posted on the ministry’s official Telegram channel.
The Ministry of Defense added that military personnel from higher military educational institutions of all branches and individual branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will take part in the parade. They will march as part of a walking column.

The closures will affect Sadovnicheskaya Street (from Balchug Street to the Bolshoi Ustinsky Bridge), as well as Balchug Street itself, Varvarka, Ilyinka and Bolotnaya. There will also be no traffic on Goncharnaya, Moskvoretskaya, Kremlinskaya, Ustinskaya, Podgorskaya, Sofia and Raushskaya embankments.
Car traffic will also be stopped in the area of Red Square and GUM (in Vetoshny Lane), in Faleevsky, as well as 1st and 2nd Raushskiye Lanes. The passage will also be blocked on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge, as well as on the Chugunny Bridge, Staraya, Novaya and Bolotnaya Squares and on Kitaygorodsky Proezd.
The ban on parking in the area of celebratory events is introduced in advance: cars cannot be parked there starting from zero on May 8, the ban will last until the end of the day on May 9.
Pedestrians should take into account that on the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on Tverskaya Street in the center of Moscow, some underground passages will be closed from 5 a.m. In particular, the crossing through Tverskaya in the area of Pushkinskaya Square will not work.

As for the metro, from 5:30 until the end of the events, a number of stations in the center will only be open for entry and transfer of passengers between lines. Passenger exits into the city will be closed at the stations “Revolution Square”, “Okhotny Ryad”, “Teatralnaya”, “Alexandrovsky Sad”, “Borovitskaya” and “Arbatskaya” (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line).
