Caterham electric car will receive an immersion-cooled battery

The supplier will be the Taiwanese XING Mobility, and the battery will be arranged according to the cell-to-pack scheme, which will slightly reduce its weight. The cells in such a battery are immersed in a special liquid, which was originally developed for heat removal in supercomputers.

The Caterham Project V electric coupe will be equipped with an Immersio CTP battery from Taiwanese XING Mobility. The abbreviation CTP means a cell-to-pack layout scheme, when cells are assembled into a block, bypassing modules, which improves fillability and allows for a slight reduction in weight. Well, Immersio is immersion cooling using a non-conducting liquid, similar to that used in supercomputers and lasers.

The capacity of a 400-volt battery will be 55 kilowatt-hours. It will be powered by a Yamaha electric motor mounted on the rear axle and producing 272 horsepower. Project V will accelerate from zero to hundred in less than 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 230 kilometers per hour. The estimated range on one charge according to the WLTP cycle is 400 kilometers.
