The Chinese brand divided the first place in the number of thefts in 2024 with Korean Hyundai – the director of the assets of the Russian Union of Auto -Strakhotchikov (RSA) Sergey Efremov shared such statistics with Lenta.ru. He clarified that the difference in the amount of Cher and Hyundai hijacking is only one car. Another Korean brand closes the top three, Kia, and the domestic Lada took the fourth position.
According to the RSA, over 350 cars and trucks were hijacked over the past year in Russia. The main goal pursued by hijackers is to analyze the cars for spare parts for their subsequent sale. This occurs against the background of a deficiency of parts in the market and increased supplies. “There are frequent cases of theft under order, this mainly applies to models such as Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento, and in distant regions – LADA,” the interlocutor of the publication emphasized.
The advice that Efremov gave to motorists to protect himself from theft is “not to leave the car for a long time unattended.”
