Chinese brand Skywell answered rumors about leaving Russia

In a conversation with the “Russian newspaper”, the representative of Skywell said that the company is no longer interested in developing a business in the country – this means that the new dealerships will not open, and those that are, will work before the expiration of contracts. At the same time, Skywell promised to fulfill all obligations to maintain and warranty repair of already sold cars. And without spare parts, the brand will not leave Russians.

Skywell became one of the first Chinese brands of a new wave that came to the Russian market after the beginning of their own and the subsequent outcome of foreign car manufacturers. However, the fuse was enough for a short while – already at the end of 2024 rumors crawled that Skywell’s affairs were going wrong. Cars in the salons almost ended and when there will be new deliveries (and whether they will be at all), dealers were difficult to say. Then they started talking about the fact that Skywell is slowly turning the business.

At the beginning of 2025, information appeared, a small number of Skywell cars, which still remained, sold with large discounts-they reach half a million rubles. In parallel with this, it turned out that one of the largest dealership holdings – Rolf refused to cooperate with this brand.

Now Skywell has clarified the situation. “Now we have no plans to develop a business for the sale of new cars in Russia,” said the representative of the Russian newspaper brand. “However, the owners of already sold cars can be calm, since all the obligations for maintenance and guarantees remain in force.” They promise to serve cars through certified partners of the company, spare parts are available in the “sufficient volume” warehouses, and if there is no particular detail, then it can be ordered “just like any other detail of any other brand”.

According to sales statistics, already in 2023, Skywell lagged behind the initially declared sales schedule by 20 times, and in 2024 things went even worse: from January to November only 202 cars were sold. This is 61.9 percent less than for the same period of 2023.
