Brands that do not have local assembly and are not backed by major players are at risk, writes Gazeta.Ru, citing experts. The most obvious candidates for elimination are companies that sell about 20 cars per month per dealership, said Oleg Moseev, ex-president of the Russian Automobile Dealers Association (ROAD) and founder of Automarketer.
About 20 cars per dealer in the first half of 2024 were sold by Skywell, SWM, Haima, VGV and Kaiyi (produced at Avtotor in Kaliningrad). According to the director of the department of new cars at Rolf, Nikolai Ivanov, Livan, Kaiyi, SWM and Foton are close to leaving the game. “Dealers have stopped investing in these brands,” he added.
If a dealer sells 20 cars a month or less, his job becomes unprofitable, experts say. However, this indicator does not always mean mandatory care: some brands have simply recently entered the market and have not yet managed to earn a name for themselves that attracts buyers.

In 2025, there may be fewer “Chinese” people. Some may leave the Russian Federation for political reasons, others due to a decline in sales predicted by experts.
One of the above brands is already on the brink: it was reported that Skywell has run out of new cars, and the Russian representative office cannot give dealers an answer about the timing of new deliveries.
