Expert Tselikov: the history of the SWM and Kaiyi brands on the Russian market is almost complete

There are about 300-400 cars of these brands left in inventory. “So their current history of presence on the Russian market is almost complete,” says Sergei Tselikov, head of the analytical agency Autostat.

According to ex-mortem, the assembly of Kaiyi cars at the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant was completed more than a year ago (at the beginning of 2025), and the last SWM cars were made last fall.

In the 70s of the last century, the Sironi Vergani Vimercate Milano company produced motorcycles. Later, in 2014, it was bought by the conglomerate Shineray Group. The Chinese resumed motorcycle assembly in Italy, and at the same time returned the abbreviation SWM.

The new owners enlisted the support of Brilliance and entered the automobile market – the companies founded a joint venture that first produced inexpensive minivans and then crossovers.

Sales of the Deepal SUV with a capacity of 439 horsepower have started in the Russian Federation. A completely new steel has been developed for Chinese cars. Hyundai and Honda are stolen more often than other cars.

As for the Kaiyi brand, its main manager is a commercial structure under the government of the city of Yibin (Sichuan Province), and the Chery company is responsible for the technical component of the models.

Earlier it became known that the Kaliningrad Avtotor will soon begin assembling Jetour brand crossovers, and is also agreeing on the terms of cooperation with the Changan company.
