Chinese Byd will challenge the Japanese auto industry in the cult segment

The company published a teaser of a microcara in a dense camouflage, and the prototype is very reminiscent of the caras according to the form factor. Japanese journalists confirm that BYD is ready to enter the local closed subcompact segment with a new electric car. While the nameless bicom-whisper will be the first imported core in history, because so far in the category, Japanese brands have dominated the category.

Although the BYD prototype is covered with camouflage, there are all signs of Kay-Kara: an almost square bias, sliding side doors, missing overhangs and a semi-roll layout with a double front rack. According to the law, the length of the Kay-Kara should not exceed 3.4 meters, the width is 1.48 meters, and the height is 2.0 meters; Power is limited by 64 horsepower. About 35% of the market of Japan is still occupied by microcars, as they have significant tax and parking benefits.

Byd seriously approached the development, completely rethought the architecture of the vehicle. According to preliminary data, the electric car will be equipped with a battery with a capacity of 20 kilowat hours, a fast 100-kilowatt charging, and the supply of the course will be 180 kilometers (WLTC). The expected price is 2.5 million yen (17.7 thousand dollars), which is comparable to the leading electrical KAY Nissan Sakura and Mitsubishi Ek X EV.

They plan to assemble kays in China, and exports to Japan are scheduled for the second half of 2026. For several years, BYD intends to take 40% of the Japanese car market of electric microcars. To conquer the market of the Land of the Rising Sun, the auto giant will expand the dealer network up to 100 points this year. Earlier, none of the foreign car manufacturers developed Kay-kara from scratch.
