The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia is going to oblige foreign companies that assemble cars in our country to purchase parts from domestic suppliers. This was reported by TASS with reference to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov. Due to this, they could score more localization points, which will allow us to participate in public procurement and federal demand stimulation programs.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has a “intention regarding the introduction of a number of components produced in Russia,” Alikhanov said at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy. Which components are in mind is still unclear.
Earlier, the ministry was going to include varnish materials in mandatory requirements for localization. In order for the coloring of the body to be counted as a localized operation, it must be painted with Russian paint, Alikhanov said. Now LKM is mainly purchased abroad.

However, new projects are on the way: for example, GAC plans to establish production in the Russian Federation, which already draws up certification documents for three models of Russian assembly.
