### Citroen C5 Aircross And don’t let its French name fool you – the European Citroen has (almost) nothing to do with this model. At the former PSMA Rus plant, which came under the control of Automotive Technologies and changed its sign in 2024, the C5 Aircross is produced to Chinese specifications from Chinese components.
Automotive technology ### Citroen C5 Aircross Important clarification: the C5 Aircross car kits that arrived in Russia from China were never a finished car – the assembly process was simply interrupted at one of the stages without damage to the final product. Simply put, [производство](https://motor.ru/reports/citroen-in-russia.htm?utm_source=readmoreintopic&utm_medium=readmoreoutoftopic2&utm_campaign=analytics) is organized according to the SKD-4 category, that is, the process is a little more complicated than the usual large-knot method. Welded and painted bodies, chassis and power plant elements, and interior parts are supplied from China – about 1,800 groups of components in total. At the stage of launching production in the spring of 2024, two cars rolled off the assembly line per hour.
Automotive technology ### DFSK ix5 Models of the DFSK sub-brand (a joint venture between Dongfeng and Sokon, owned by Seres Group) have been touring Russian factories. First a batch of cars [выпустил](https://motor.ru/news/avtotor-dfsk-23-04-2024.htm) Kaliningrad Avtotor commissioned by Motoroinvest, and six months later DFSK “moved” to an enterprise in the Lipetsk region. Moreover, for the Lipetsk site of Motorinvest [запуск моделей ix5 и 500](https://motor.ru/testdrives/dfsk5i7.htm), which are equipped with a conventional internal combustion engine, became a landmark – before the start of their production, the plant assembled only electric cars and hybrids of the Evolute brand.
Dongfeng ### DFSK 500 There are still few details about the assembly of DFSK 500 and ix5 at Motorinvest, which was launched in September 2024. What is known is that [модели не распространяются](https://motor.ru/news/motorinvest-dfsk-05-09-2024.htm) no compensation, subsidies or support programs, because models with internal combustion engines are not covered by the current special investment contract SPIC 2.0.
Dongfeng ### Forthing The mentioned Avtotor, which in 2022 lost contracts with BMW, Hyundai and Kia, continues to load its capacity with Chinese cars. In 2024, the Kaliningrad plant mastered the assembly of several Forthing brand models. The T5 and T5 Evo crossovers, as well as the seven-seater Yacht, entered the assembly line. Prices for all three models have dropped significantly since production started.
Forthing ### Jetour Dashing List of Avtotor partners in 2024 [пополнился](https://motor.ru/news/jetour-15-04-2024.htm) and another brand – Jetour (owned by Chery). Last spring, it was announced that production of the Jetour Dashing crossover had begun in Kaliningrad. Moreover, the plant has ambitious plans for the model: gradually more and more parts will be localized, preparing the model for the full cycle – production with welding, painting and assembly. In general, the directions for the development of cooperation between Avtotor and Jetour have been determined until 2028, but there is no information about the launch of other models of the brand yet. But there is Vehicle Type Approval for the Jetour X70 Plus and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro from Kaliningrad.
Vyacheslav Krylov ### Haval H3 The Tula plant “Haval Motor Rus” launched the production of the H3 model – a Pro-line crossover, which is more compact and cheaper than the Dargo, but with the same brutal design. The decision to localize production is a logical step for Haval against the backdrop of increasing scrappage rates, due to which the H3 exported from China risked becoming more expensive than the larger F7 and Dargo, but assembled in Russia.
Haval ### New generation Haval H9 In the summer, the Haval Motor Rus plant went on vacation, during which the company was preparing to assemble a new model – the new generation H9. Now the H9 is rolling off the assembly line in two versions – with a two-liter gasoline engine and a 2.4-liter turbodiesel. This is still a frame SUV with an independent suspension on double wishbones at the front and a solid axle suspended on five arms, a classic automatic transmission, permanent all-wheel drive and a reduction gear. The interior of the SUV is designed for seven people.
Haval ### New Haval F7 During the same summer corporate vacation, the Tula Haval plant prepared for the production of the transformed F7. In Russia it is simply called “new”, but in China this model is not related to the “seventh” family. There it is called Shenshou (Monster), it has a completely different design with a frameless radiator grille and retractable door handles, and is based on the LEMON platform, familiar to us from Jolion and Dargo.
Haval ### Haval M6 But another Haval model, on the contrary, moved from Tula to Kaluga – at the former PSMA Rus plant, the Citroen C5 Aircross company is now the M6 crossover. There are still few details about the transfer of production, since it was officially confirmed only in November 2024. It can be assumed that the freed capacity at the Tula plant will be used to increase production volumes of the most popular models or to produce a new one. The last one may be [гибридный H-Dog](https://motor.ru/news/haval-hybrid-29-11-2024.htm).
Haval ### The former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga…is working. And for at least six months now, the restart of production at the site in the Kaluga region, where Volkswagen Polo, Tiguan and Skoda Rapid were previously assembled, was officially announced in mid-summer 2024. AGR, the new owner of the plant in the Grabtsevo industrial park, has agreed to produce cars with an “eastern partner”, but with which one is still unknown. We are waiting for more details in the coming 2025.
RIA Novosti / Mikhail Fomichev ### Former Mercedes-Benz plant in the Moscow region The former Mercedes-Benz plant in Yesipovo, near Moscow, also produces cars. The first cars rolled off the assembly line in June 2024, and, according to unofficial information, these were premium Exeed crossovers. Exeed VX was the first to receive a “registration” in the Moscow region. Let us remind you that this site is now owned by the Avtodom holding.

In 2024, the Russian auto industry continued to recover after the departure of companies from unfriendly countries, although not at such a fast pace as expected – some factories did not emerge from idle time, which had already lasted for almost 2.5 years. But while some assembly sites are stuck in negotiations with potential technology partners, others have managed to resume car assembly with support from China. In this gallery we have collected all the models of Chinese brands that were “registered” at Russian car factories in the past year.
