Dacia will turn Duster into an electric car. Probably with all -wheel drive

The EU and the UK are going to ban cars with internal combustion engines since 2035, and the automakers are gradually preparing for this date, transferring their bestsellers to electricity. So, Dacia prepares an EV version of each model in its line. Duster will not avoid this fate. According to the chief executive director of the brand Denis Le Vota, work on the electric Duster is already going on, and it will be presented on time.

Duster without an internal combustion engine will be built on the CMF-B EV platform (aka AMPR Small), which he will share with Renault 5 and 4, as well as with all future electric Dacia. This is, in fact, the same CMF-B, on which the current Duster is based, but adapted to the electric drive. The architecture allows you to place an electric motor both on the front and rear axles that Renault has recently demonstrated by the example of a concept car 4 Savane 4 × 4. This means that Duster EV can save the option of all -wheel drive, like the “fuel” crossover.

However, the Duster-electric car will not replace Duster with the ICE-at least not immediately. The latter will remain in service and after 2030 and will be sold in parallel with a completely “green” version.

In the near future, Dacia plans to add a new hybrid top version with an electric motor from the rear. A full-wheel drive gasoline-electrical crossover will be able to compete with Jeep Avenger 4xe.

The Romanian brand will also release a couple of new products of the C-segment, which will be located next to Bigster in its line. They will appear by 2027, and therefore ICE will probably be initially equipped.
