Electric car giant BYD has officially arrived in Kazakhstan: prices

Since January 2025, neighbors began selling three models: two electric vehicles (the Song Plus crossover and the Han sedan), as well as a hybrid (the Song Plus DM-i crossover). The BYD car dealership is located in Almaty, where cars are now available. The manufacturer offers a default warranty of six years or 150 thousand km, but the warranty on the suspension is shorter (four years or 120 thousand km), and longer on the battery (eight years).

The most affordable option is the 4.8-meter BYD Song Plus electric crossover. It has front-wheel drive (204 horsepower, 310 Nm), a 72-kilowatt-hour battery and a range of 505 km (NEDC). Such a car costs 15.7 million tenge (3.04 million rubles). For 17.1 million tenge (3.3 million rubles) you can get a boosted version (218 horsepower, 330 Nm) with an 87-kilowatt-hour battery and an autonomy of 602 km.

Both configurations are rich: there are front, side and curtain airbags, all-round visibility, all-round parking sensors, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, an audio system with 9 or 10 speakers, keyless entry and a 12-diagonal touchscreen. 8 or 15.6 inches.

An alternative is the parallel front-wheel drive hybrid Song Plus, which has a naturally aspirated 1.5 engine (110 horsepower) and a 197-horsepower electric motor. The total range is 1200-1500 kilometers; on electric power, the crossover can travel 110-145 kilometers. The difference is in the batteries (18.3 kilowatt-hours or 26.6 kilowatt-hours), the number of driver assistants and the price. Depending on the version, the hybrid costs 17.9-18.9 million tenge (3.46-3.65 million rubles).

At the top of the range is the BYD Han electric car. This is a five-meter-long business sedan with all-wheel drive (517 horsepower, 710 Nm), a power reserve of 565 km and rich fixed equipment. In addition to the full range of options for the Song Plus crossover, there is automatic high beam, heated and ventilated rear seats, a rotating media system screen, a projection screen, and the audio system has 12 speakers. Price – 22.49 million tenge (4.35 million rubles).

BYD is currently the undisputed leader in the Chinese market for new energy vehicles (electric vehicles and chargeable hybrids). Expansion into Central Asia began in Uzbekistan, where the automaker has a plant. Taking into account BYD’s strategy, supplies of Uzbek-assembled electric vehicles and hybrids to Kazakhstan cannot be ruled out.
