Hongqi Vice President of Design Giles Taylor, who previously worked at Jaguar and Rolls-Royce, spoke about the current Lada design. He shared his opinion in a conversation with Autonews.ru.
Taylor first of all drew attention to the promising Azimut model. He described it as a successful example of a modern design approach.
“The SUV and compact SUV segment is in high demand right now, especially in countries with harsh weather conditions such as Russia or Northern Europe,” Taylor said.
According to him, such cars are perceived as safe due to their high ground clearance and a sense of security, which is especially appreciated by family buyers.
The designer has a special affinity for the classic Lada Niva, which he called iconic and noted its solid, easily recognizable image. As for the Lada Vesta, Taylor did not dwell on it in detail, but noted that he was indirectly familiar with this model, and its design was developed by Steve Mattin – the designer has a long-standing friendship with him.
