Fit Service has listed 13 parts that most often break in a car in the spring

With the onset of warmer months, roads become more prone to potholes with sharp edges and areas of sagging asphalt. All this poses a direct threat to the car, and the chassis takes the first blow. Andrey Kuzin, head of the Fit Service “Yaroslavskoye Shosse” car service center, said this in an interview with Motor magazine.

“The main victim of spring potholes and potholes hidden under puddles is the suspension. When a wheel falls into a hole or flies into the edge of a pothole, the impact falls on the racks, levers, silent blocks and supports. Considering that these parts have already been seriously damaged due to the difficult winter, then such a spring “surprise” could finally finish off the element,” the expert said.

According to him, shock absorbers and springs wear out gradually. First, microdefects, leaks, loss of rigidity appear, and then the car begins to sway and holds the road worse on uneven surfaces. In actual use, after a couple of spring months, the owner often hears unnecessary sounds from the suspension for the first time, although wear has accumulated since the winter.

The second most common set of problems after broken roads is steering. Strong impacts on holes and bumps are transmitted to the rack, rods and tips. If they were no longer new, then by spring play and knocking appear.

The driver may feel a slight beating of the steering wheel or the car pulling to the side, especially on a rut and when braking. At speed, the situation becomes dangerous: feedback worsens, backlash increases, and instability on uneven surfaces reduces safety during emergency maneuvers.

Another common problem on spring roads is related to tires and wheels. They are the first to encounter a hole or the sharp edge of a destroyed road surface. As a result, hernias, internal cord breaks, and cuts appear on the tires. Discs suffer no less – cracks and dents often appear.

The standard situation is misaligned wheel alignment and imbalance. In this case, the car begins to pull to the side, vibrations appear at speed and uneven tread wear occurs.

The brake system is also subject to spring risks. Due to frequent emergency braking in front of potholes, the discs overheat and the pads wear out faster. Shocks and vibrations on a broken road, combined with water and dirt, provoke corrosion of working surfaces and guides. As a result, beating when braking, increased braking distance and squeaking appear, Kuzin warned.
